About Doctor

Dr. Shida graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Pre-Med Biology. In 1980, Dr. Shida obtained his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Alabama/Medical Center at Birmingham. The following year, Dr. Shida established his private practice career, serving the Atlanta area. In addition to prescribing eyeglasses, Dr. Shida practices family and medical eye care. He also specializes in pre and post-operative surgical care, as well as treating keratoconus. One of Dr. Shida’s specialties is Corneal Refractive Therapy, or more commonly known as Ortho-K. A process that uses gas permeable contact lenses that reshape corneas temporarily to provide days of clear vision at a time. Dr. Shida is a former college football player from the University of Maryland, lettering for 3 years. His passion for football continues by his support for his favorite NFL football team, the Atlanta Falcons. When Dr. Shida isn’t practicing, one of his favorite things to do is to spend quality time with his family and grandchildren.
